I am curious about radio and how far can hear radio stations around the world so I am documenting here the stations I have heard from the Tel Aviv, Israel area. The method I use to discover stations varies between just randomly tuning in to frequencies, and going to the internet to find AM stations for example. A good website you can use to find radio stations in Europe is this one. Methods I use to verify that the station is indeed correct vary, one verification method I particularly like is to find an internet live stream of the station (You can use the radio map website I have suggested above) and listen to it while listening to the actual AM radio station and see if they are similar.
I have recently bought the Tecsun PL-360 radio receiver and that enabled me to listen to shortwave as well and I have found some very interesting stations that are VERY DISTANT!

I have just searched randomly and have encountered a station that teaches Chinese to English listener ( and then for some reason it changed to Esperanto I think ). Frequency 7420 KHz on shortwave.
I have succeeded listening to Radio Marti the second time (at 7435 KHz) :) A station from North Carolina in Spanish. (THIS IS REALLY FAR AWAY)
I have attempted tuning in to a radio station from Nashville (WWCR Nashville) that I saw was transmitting at a lower power but I only got faint signals that I could not really understand anything so it is more challenging for me, but I am not giving up on that, at least not yet ;)
Today I have attempted listening to the Nashville radio station the second time, and have successfully CONFIRMED (with a pretty high chance) that I have indeed heard more than 10,000 KM away all the way from freakin` NASHVILLE!!!!! this is insane I still can't grasp this.
The station I was tuning into is on shortwave 4840KHz WWCR Nashville, the signal was coming and going and I heard it this time more clear I think partially due to the fact that I was listening earlier in the morning. I have heard key words like - dollars, Flagstaff (a city in arizona), and just generally you can clearly hear the American accent.
This is freakin insane, I love radio!!! :)
I have successfully heard a new station from the United States!!!!! And in a comfortable hour that is still daylight over there.
The station is 9330 KHz WBCQ from the state Maine!!!!!
